The bluebird of happiness

passed me by and instead the chicken of chicken pox came to visit me. Not my children yet. But me.

Right now submerging myself in a tank of calamine lotion sounds like bliss.

I'm doing alright - my sister says I have Weird Pox because I wasn't as sick as her so I am grateful for small mercies.

However, feeling like I am wrapped in a whole body suit of scratchy, itchy wool is probably not some I will feel grateful for until it's over and I'm immune. Sleeping is very difficult.

DH had a work trip booked so I went home to be looked after by my Mum. Thank goodness for grandmas is what I say.

I had to postpone my interview until Wednesday next week. I trust I will be over this thing by then, if a little... uh.. scabby. Hello Concealer!

Scratching my butt in the interview is probably not very attractive either.

  1. Oh, Penny! I'm so sorry! I've heard it's much more difficult on adults than kids. I hope you find some relief and that it goes away soon! Prayers that your kids don't get it, too.

  13. I am so glad that you are doing okay. I was really worried cause the chickenpox can hit adults pretty hard. I think the incubation period for pox is 2 weeks so probably another week until your kids get them. Glad you have grandma to take care of everyone.

Yuk penny!! You poor thing! Hey my chemist reccommends antihistamine for chicken pox rather than calamine lotion. Worked well on my kids too. Hope you are feeling better soon and lol at the scratching bum look at the interview!

  15. Oh darn it. That is yucky! I know getting the chicken pox as an adult can be SOOOO nasty. My Mom had it when I was a little girl and was SOOO sick - sorry you didn't get it as a child. Please feel better and I hope you get some sleep soon.

  17. Hey poxy lady!
You poor thing, you never had them as a child either? have you been exposed before? Just curious as I've never had them and have been exposed 3 times that I know of and was even rubbing Keri Oil on my little cousins' pox. Just before I got pregnant I got blood tests to see if I needed any immunisations and I apparently have immunity - weird huh?
I hope you're feeling better and this doesn't lead to terrible lung problems and "ruining of your health" like a certain someone we know ;-)
