In which I respond to the northern hermispheric bias of Christmas carols

I'm dreaming of a dry Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the sunshine glistens,
on the surf waves rolling
and pohutakawa flowers grow

I’m dreaming of a dry Christmas
With luscious strawberries and cream
Jandals, parks and picnics
Families playing cricket
And where the grass is mostly green

Bucket of strawberries

I'm dreaming of a dry Christmas
With crispy barbeque and pavs
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be dry

  1. Love it Penny! I've woken to yet another cold wet day here in Sydney, I'm not unhappy about the cold, but it's very difficult to persuade my brain that Christmas is just around the corner in this sort of weather.

  3. Excellent Penny. I have to say that I find it difficult to relate to carols with names like "In the Bleak Midwinter". To me, Christmas is summer
