I'd like to think I'm reasonably adventurous when it comes to eating, but it really depends on the environment as well as the food.  For example, I think if I ever got to India I'd be vegetarian for the duration.  If I went to China I'd be reluctant to try snake there because of the way they dispatch it, (not to mention other animals that get eaten there!)

Other things I could eat if I had to be polite, but the texture/source puts me off - like kidneys for example.  I can't divorce my mind from the fact that the odd texture is an organ that filters out stuff... and here I am eating it!  Ick.  I think that is why I'm not keen on shellfish and the likes either - at least by themselves.  I can't ignore the fact they are filter feeders and plus I'm eating their gonads.  (But they are okay in chowder... sort of).

  1. Lol can't say I like the sound of eating gonads either.
But pistachio ice cream - oh yummo!!!

  2. I think when it comes to food I am fussy lol, but I have tried a few things on there.

  3. I'm surprised you're not keen to try black pudding! I'm squeamish about offal and seafood and even I like it.

Trinity of Silver in Mt Albert does a great big breakfast that you can get with sautéed black pudding. We really miss eating there.
My sister's just come back from the States and she ate huevos rancheros with black beans almost every day.

  4. Lol Penny - I have eaten a few things on that list but some I just couldn't

  5. Anonymous2:29 am

Some of this stuff I haven't even heard of. Black Pudding? If YOU crossed it off perhaps it's best I DON'T know what it is.

    You're more adventurous then I.

I LOVE huevos rancheros w/ tortillas!

  6. Anonymous2:35 am

I give you the best looking Huevos Rancheros:

  7. You have a pretty adventurous palate, Penny.

There are a few things on there I'm gonna have to Wiki to see what the hell they are so I can find out if I've ever eaten them, lol.

    I had emu once.

  8. I was thinking of popping that one on my blog but it would show that basically I'm a big baby when it comes to food. I HAVE had All the acohol based ones tho...

I guess that means I'm more of an experimental drinker.

  9. Kobe beef, crocodile and durian are the only three things I've had that you haven't. I've eaten heaps of that list but I confess there are 2 or 3 things that I had never heard of (and I call myself a foodie!)
