I've created a monster

I finally let DS have at the lego collection my sisters and I had when we were younger. The first thing he does in the morning is dig it out. As soon as he is home he is playing again. I'm continually getting pestered to "help" i.e. make things from the "constructions" he's found in there.

I surprised myself when I did actually sit down with him and make some stuff up - remembered how much fun it is to build things.

  1. Long may that continue. Mr 9 comes back to Lego over and over again. We were just commenting in the weekend that we will never give this stuff away. (You just have to get over the mess it makes!)

  2. Oh yay, guess we'll be seeing each other in the ED waiting room queuing for the removal of all the Leggo we've impaled our feet on in the middle of the night;)

Seriously, Leggo is fabulous and sooooooo addictive for every member of the family. Lucky, Tim! :)

  4. My 16yr old still keeps Lego under his bed. Used to love rainy weekends when my husband and the children would spend the whole weekend with Lego. Kids won't believe that I just used to make houses as that's about all we had...We have so much now, including old 40 year old Lego and 70 year old Meccano (pieces of which are holding 16 year olds L plates onto the front of the car!!)
It's a great time, enjoy it.
    PS I love Duplo too,
PPS Every so often my husband asks for Lego for his birthday!!

  5. such a familiar site! I've found clearfiles fantastic for putting all the different 'construction plan' pages into :-) We have the lego in a big black divers bag but I am looking out for a suitable storage container with lid and wheels - want them flatish so it's easy to ferrit through to find that little piece you need... thinking underbed storage things:-)

  6. Hiya Penny, thought I'd stop by your blog, as we seem to comment on a few of the same other people. My sister and I played with Lego until our late teens ... great move I say!

  7. Firstly, it is GREAT that you kept your Lego!! I wish we had kept ours, because the darn stuff is soooo expensive. I will keep EVERY piece of my boys' Lego for them to give their children. Mine play for HOURS with it, it has quite literally saved my life now they are both old enough to play with it (TOGETHER). And yes, it's a heap of fun for Mum & Dad too!

oh Lego is great. When he is a bit older and can construct things himself it will keep him busy (and quiet) for hours!

  9. my brother in law let my 4 yr old nephew buy a 470 piece star wars lego set for the 8-12 crowd. they (plus mom) then spent 4 1/2 hours putting it together! that kind of toy is so good for kids--you were smart to keep yours.
