#blogjune 21 June 2020 Book

Bears in the night.

This book is a great book for kids and for teaching ESOL.

The last 2 pages should be read as fast as possible outloud to small children for maximum scary thrill.

From a colleague. They are so expensive so it's great when colleagues have trees.

#blogjune 11 June 2020 Signs

There is a deep seated belief in libraries and possibly elsewhere, that signs help customers. If there is ever some issue someone will say "There needs to be a sign that says [solution to issue]" In fact, customers also believe that signs solve problems too.  I beg to differ.

Looking at this photo, it appears completely evident if you can/do read signs that this is where to return books.   Today someone stood in front of the box and asked " Is this where I return books? ".
"a wicked and adulterous generation seeketh a sign. "

#blogjune 5 June 2020 Nightmare

I consider myself pretty digitally savvy. But if I have program this thing, I have to be completely calm, quiet and have no distractions.

Last night I dreamt I had to completely re-programme everyone's till codes for another library. Nightmare.

#blogjune 4 June 2020 Stack

That thing where all your requests come in at once.

I did a bunch while in lockdown and now we're back I forgot to freeze some of them.

#blogjune 3 June 2020 Waiting to open

There is something portential about the library before we open.
We're putting together some grab and go bags for folks. My team are having fun with the labels. No one has taken the Smut Bag yet but it's had a lot of laughs.

#blogjune 2020 Crochet

A few years go I taught myself how to crochet. It is a slippery slope for a craft oriented person because of all the stash one can acquire. I have finished a beanie. And started a hooded cowl.

#blogjune 2020 Kayak completed

Last post for #blogjune 2019 was about the kayak.  It's finally completed and has had a maiden voyage.  In fact, it's been on the water about 3 times now.  The #nzlockdown meant we didn't have the planned holiday up north where it was going to be used extensively.  But once winter is over here, hopefully we'll be able to re-visit those plans.  In the meantime, the odd weekend paddle will have to suffice.

DH has another identical kayak cut out and will be making another two seater, making family outing with all parties possible.

The kayak has yet to be named - it will have a sea bird name of some kind.
